YARK HISTORY

Founded by Jim Yark in 1980, Yark Automotive Group has grown from 50 employees and less that $20 million in sales to more that 350 employees and annual sales of around $150 million.  For the last fifteen years, Yark Automotive Group has been the largest new and used vehicle dealership in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.  Yark Jeep has also been 5-Star certified since it’s inception in 1996.  We also sell the most Jeeps in the state of Ohio, more than any other Jeep dealership. 

The Yark family is originally from Toledo and both Yark brothers, Jim and John, graduated from local high schools.  In addition, they both attended Ohio State University, obtaining business degrees.  After acquiring the organization in 1980, Jim, the company owner/president started a detailed business plan and grew the dealership to it’s present size (Seven Franchises: Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, Nissan, Subaru, BMW, Chevy).   Six used car lots, body shop and a car rental company, and the areas largest parts department. 

Jim attributes his success to the people in the organization:  “Anybody can get a piece of ground and maybe a car franchise, but clearly, we have fabulous people!  Our employees have strong customer awareness, a good sense for the car business, high ethics, stability, and positive attitudes.”

Jim Yark Named 2006 TADA Time Magazine Quality Dealer

Jim Yark of Yark Automotive Group in Toledo, Ohio has been named as the 2006 Times Magazine Quality Dealer Award (TMQDA) nominee for the Toledo Automobile Dealers Association. 

Mr. Yark was selected for his qualities as an exemplary dealer, combined with distinguished community service and involvement in the industry.  Some of the qualities include customer satisfaction, ethics, new car sales record, training of employees and service to the community.

Mr. Yark is past present of TADA and has been a member of TADA since 1976.  Mr. Yark resides in Toledo with his wife Mary and their six children. 

The 2006 award will be presented during the opening business session of the NADA Convention in Orlando on February 11, 2006.
